February 7th, 2010. What a beautiful clear winter day!
Moosicorn Ranch is an experiment at sustainable living. Our first project is our home: The Barn.
The barn is dried in and has final grading around it. The lower level is a workshop while the upstairs is a two bedroom loft-style apartment.
On the exterior we used HardiPlank siding, a Trex deck, glulam beams instead of pressure treated, a functioning cupola and an unpainted metal room. Solar panels are planned for 2010 after we install septic. Wind power is planned for 2011.
The interior will feature a variety of environmentally friendly products including Forbo Marmolium, Ceasarstone, Zero VOC stains and paint, Healthier choice carpet pad, energy efficient windows and doors, ductless AC, efficient and comfortable radiant heat flooring. We’ve chosen to run everything with electricity because we will be powered by solar and wind energy.
